Wool Felt and Stitching

What type of wool do you use for felting?

I have a small flock of Icelandic sheep. I do all my breeding, shearing, wool washing and prep on site at the farm. I use acid dyes for colour, as I can exhaust the dye bath to water and vinegar, and mix colours right in the pot. Everything is small scale, one person cottage industry.

I use wet, needle and nuno felting techniques and have great fun playing with them all at once.

I use a wide variety of silks, hemp, cottons that are all recycled; often including my worn through garments. All slow stitching is hand done. All wallhangings have small rings on the back that work great to mount the artwork, using 2-4 thumb tacks. Cards include envelopes….an easy way to send a one-of-a-kind gift from afar.

The galleries give you an idea of what you can expect from me. These are past works, and not for sale.
